SPIRITUAL ADOPTION PROCEDURE

The following information was compiled from National Pro-Life Directors who attest that this is the best and only way to enlist people to spiritually adopt unborn babies.

 

Do not distribute cards after Mass to people on their way out of church! This does not work! There is no pledge card and no prayer follow up!

 

  1. Solicit help locally, i.e., from your parish pro-life director, pro-life group, senior group, teen group, Knights of Columbus church activities director.
  2. DISTRIBUTE the prayer card and pledge slip on Sunday before all Masses, to people going into church: one card and one pledge slip to each adult and child 7 years and older.
  3. Ask the priest if he can make an announcement after Mass requesting parishioners to spiritually adopt a baby; or ask one enthusiastic pro-life speaker to make the announcement so the message is conveyed with uniformity and consistency. Ask parishioners to follow along with you as you read the back of the prayer card.
  4. During the announcement, ask each parishioner to print his nameand the name of the baby he has spiritually adopted in prayer. Ask everyone to hand the pledge slips to the ushers on the way out of church. After Mass, gather all the pledge slips into one basket and place them in the Sacristy or at the foot of Our Blessed Mother.
  5. After Mass, distribute the two pages on  pages 26-27:  The miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, by whom nine million natives in Mexico were converted in 1531 – the largest conversion to Christianity in the history of mankind. This is the only image of Our Blessed Mother that is neither painted nor printed. It is, as John Paul II said, a photograph from Heaven.
  6. Plan a Baby Shower. Everyone bring a gift and donate it to babies in need.

 

Let us resolve ourselves to answer the call of John Paul II in “Evangelium Vitae”, so that the Catholic people become the “people of life and the people for life, to activate a great campaign in support of life.”
