NICOLAUS COPERNICUS 1473-1543 NICOLAUS COPERNICUS 1473-1543

The two most famous Catholic scientists, Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) and Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) literally changed history by correctly locating the Earth in orbit around the sun, when everyone else on Earth thought it was vice versa. The Church was reluctant to accept the new theory until its overabundant caution was overcome by irrefutable facts developed by subsequent scientific investigation. Then everybody was happy and Catholic Heliocentrism was here to stay.
